I like how you mention that she doesn't lose her wings and yet the image used for this post shows a wingless Dash. lol

ReplyDeleteHA HA! IRONY!
so how did gilda die? lack of oxygen at such high altitude?
ReplyDeleteI barely got through the first couple of paragraphs before I realized what this was an allusion to (which, I can forgive the title, since it'd be too hard to properly ponify the title of Setzer's sad theme "Epitaph" for this). It may just be where I've always been such a big fan of Final Fantasy VI before this, but it moved me, and I had to comment on it.
ReplyDeleteOf note, I am now listening to Searching For Friends from FFVI's soundtrack, wondering how to properly work the story around Friendship is Magic (and without the overdone Tyrant Celestia for Kefka).

ReplyDeleteFrom the combination of fatigue and lack of oxygen at a high altitude factored in there.

Thank you. I'm glad at least one person had gotten where I was going with that. I was just thinking they sort of had the similar relationship as Setzer and Daryl. And after listening to Epitaph I kinda had to do it.
The title I decided also was an allusion to the theme "Forever Rachel" which I found to be an equally touching theme.
Also I totally understand that; just as I didn't want to write another 'Gilda had a bad time at Flight Camp' sort of stories. I'd totally love to read it if you go ahead and make one XD
I was gonna mention how I though it would be rather out of character for Rainbow Dash to just quit a race like that, but as it turns out it was just me being ignorant of the story's origin.
ReplyDeleteOn the other hand, I loved the closing line, very good choice.
Yeah...now that I think about it I really should have added something like the link into the story to the part in the game or something. That way people who didn't get the reference would get it. But hey it was 6am and I hadn't had any sleep.
ReplyDeleteOh well. I'll try better next time I guess.
