[Shipping] I think we have officially used every variation of Applejack/Rainbow Dash in title form now! Written by Lurks-No-More

Perfect example why I don't read fanfics.
ReplyDeleteAnd why might that be Anon1? I found it to be an at least nice story. Found it cute. Not always a fan of shipping. But I've read worse. Much, much, MUCH worse.
ReplyDeleteDash isn't a lesbian anymore?
ReplyDeleteWHY.
WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY.
Brb, going to my happy place (The Archives)

ReplyDeleteSo you...didn't read it?
Aaaanyway, I did. It was pretty well done.
But that intro by Sethisto is really making me tempted to write a new one -
Rainjacked!
Sounds badass.
There's still plent more variations to try.
ReplyDeleteMy personal favorite among a list is this one...
"Jackbow Applerain!"
There's always more titles you can come up with.
"Rainjack Bowdash!"
"Jackapple n' Dash Rainbow"

ReplyDeleteTogether, they'll clean up these mean streets.
Dag nabbit dammit. I was hoping to start a fic based on the same image, but this fic was a good one and I'd be worried now that I wasn't just rewriting it if I ever managed to begin my fic.
ReplyDeleteI liked Applejack's internal monologues, especially her use of "ruttin'," and both ponies didn't stray out of character. However, while readers may need a reminder on the whole Elements Of Harmony thing, do it lightly.
Kinda bugs me when writers forget to replace "person" with "pony" and such, but otherwise, a good read.
ReplyDelete@Wing B.
ReplyDeleteNot everypony in that universe is a pony, Spike is a dragon, Gilda is a Griffon and Zecora is a Zebra.
Still, it's generally just how the ponies speak.
ReplyDeleteAnypony, nopony, somepony, etc. Makes me feel more like it's ponies talking when reading a story.
You now realize that the rainbow at end of this story is equivalent to the green light in The Great Gatsby.
ReplyDeleteSymbolism? In MY pony fanfictions?
ReplyDeletenot my favorite fic ever, but i liked that the crush/love was unreturned. Don't get me wrong, i like shipping as much as the next pony (well, ok, not AS much), but it's nice to see a healthy dose of realism after so many random-ass relationships work out in the end.
ReplyDeleteI liked this! It's certainly uncommon for Dash to be the one who turns out not to be a lesbian in these kinds of fics, so you get points for originality. The dialog was passable, and I always appreciate shipping that doesn't end with "AND THEN THEY KISSED". Nice job!
ReplyDeleteI really liked it. Well written, cute, and, as a few people above said, it was nice to see a shipping fic without the whole, well, shipping part.
ReplyDeleteAnd I liked the fact that you made AJ the gay one. Lesbian Dash is great, but it's too common. (That said, both my fics made Dash a lesbian. I am a sheep)
Counterpart to the 'Rejection'-Fic i guess
ReplyDeleteThank you for the comments, everyone!
ReplyDelete~Scratch: "Dash isn't a lesbian anymore? WHY."
Because! :D I enjoy going against the fanon every now and then, and straight Dash was just too fitting and fun for this purpose.
Wingboner: Whoops! I tried to make sure I used the "-pony" forms, but looks like something slipped past.
Anonymous: I'd be lying if I said "Rejection" wasn't an influence, but the pic (and the expressions) was the primary inspiration.
Oh, don't get me wrong, that wasn't some kind of "lol, rip-off!"-comment. It just was the first thing that came to my mind (well, second, first was 'Poor Applejack ;_;')
ReplyDeleteCute but sad. Enjoyed it quite a bit despite being an Appledash shipper.
ReplyDeleteI think the only part I didn't care for/agree with was Dash specifying "pegasus filly". I know the different kinds of pony aren't supposed to be races, per se, but it was rather jarring. It's the kind of thing that could have set off self-loathing recrimination in Applejack. "Why did I have to be a rotten earth pony? If I'd just been a pegasus I might have had a chance." It's both a bit cruel and mildly... discriminatory... on Dash's part to make that specification, I guess.
I didn't really think it was that big of a deal, though, like I said. Just think it might come off a bit better without the "pegasus" specifier in that one bit.

ReplyDeleteFuck you man, god DAMNIT.
Good story, fun read, but man now I can't think of this story in any other way.
All things considered, that was fairly good, though a few errors here and there broke the flow a little.
ReplyDeleteAs for the names, I've never been a fan of "Appledash" and I actually prefer "Rainbowjack" as a name for that pairing, of which we can have several variants.
I'd like to think of this story as a tasteful response to the A.T.T.A.F. ship-fics floating around.
ReplyDeleteBut man, this reminds me of The Great Gatsby pretty hard, too.
Rainbow Dash! :D
