I'd have to resist though, it's bad enough having the Mcdonalds toys laying around.. I can't imagine the responses I'd get with a full sized Twilight Sparkle in my bed.
I would buy them all and have them ALL on my bed... and buy an extra set for my van and prop them up so they are looking out the back window. Pony bed time buddies? HELL YEAH! (sounds sorta wrong... but if its wrong I don't want to be right!)
I own dozens of plush toys, a few of which that could definitely be considered "girlish" in nature. I don't think a Twilight Sparkle / Rainbow Dash / Rarity plush would draw any extra attention.
...what? It's not like I'd only buy *one* of them. Heck, skipping a few meals each week makes sense to me, if it means I could afford all six main ponies.
@Anonymous I'm still relatively new to the whole plushie making thing so I'm still experimenting with methods and stuff. I think I'm getting the hang of it now though.
Of course before I even thought about trying to sell these I'd make sure the pattern was perfect, and then I'd post pics and get feedback and change it accordingly
Cat seems about the right sense of scale. Good size for hugging, but not big enough to take up too much space and be obnoxious. Plus this way you could maybe afford to have more than one in your room without a sense of clutter.
You could potentially afford to go a little smaller, but anything bigger is going to give space concerns and be really expensive in terms of materials, I think.
Well, MAYBE if it was around teddy-bear size, I'd get one...but I wouldn't be able to explain why I have such a thing. It'd end up only being for my sis.
I've always been a handicrafts person, making my own sketchbooks from scratch and whatnot, but I've never done plushies before.
I was thinking of a knitted derpy beanie with misaligned buttons for eyes and strips of linen, shredded or otherwise, for the mane. Maybe stuffed cotton wings and 7 grey buttons of varying sizes for the mark?
granted, the end product would look more like a bioshock Mr. Bubbles baseball head doll, but you *could* pass it off as artistic indie goods, i guess...?
If anyone with the Knowledge (no, not THAT Knowledge), can point me in the correct direction, i might be able to draw up a pattern...
I would really love to get a show-accurate Derpy Hooves with a mail side bag accessory and little muffins. That would be epic! Although I'd doubt they make a Derpy Hooves even if they did make show-accurate main cast ponies.
@pyritie Think you can pull something like that off. =)
I'd totally do it if the price is right. IT'd be adorable, and since I sometimes make stuffed toys, I could always handwave it with "I bought it so I can examine how they put it together to make my own."
No matter how many I buy under that excuse, I can never bring myself to dismantle ones that are already whole. It just feels so... violent.
I voted yes, but I was thinking in anime Plush terms. I already have two of the larger Hamtaro plushies, four of the smaller ones, my own Shadow the Hedgehog (Woot at DarkHawk1), a Mokona, about ten different Pikachu's, an Ein, a Mushu, a Grunty, Kirara from InuYasha...
Yeah a plush that size wouldn't matter at this point. But a Giant one? Sadly I have no room for em. My two giant Pikachu's are stuck in the closet due to space issues.
I want a Luna plushie because a.) she needs the love and b.) she's perfect for my night-loving self. She'd get more hugs than than any other plushie ever.
Oh gods, I'd buy them all. Although I am a girl with a humongous plushie collection anyway, so I guess that's not quite as big a deal as it might feel like to a brony. *patpat* Stay strong. Real men DO watch My Little Pony. The very manliest obsess over it to the point of buying toys.
So far I've got Applejack, Celestia, and Twilight from McDonald's. Rarity coming soon (from a friend.) Really wish I'd been able to get everybody before they moved on to the Barbies. 3: On any given day they only gave you the option to choose between two ponies. The night I got Celestia, they didn't even give me a choice. Guess I should have bought two at a time. *dolt* I missed Pinkie and Fluttershy that way, figuring I could come back and get them. ;__; Never even saw my fave Rainbow...but yeah, anyway. Bring on the accurate toys.

I'd snuggle my Rainbow Dash and feel like a manly man while doing so.
ReplyDelete@Anonymous Agreed.
ReplyDeleteTwilight Sparkle is my reading buddy. *nodnod*
ReplyDelete@Sethisto I remember when I got a huge stuffed Panda Bear.. Fortunately people kind of expect me to be quirky.
ReplyDeleteFluttershy would be right at home with all my other animal plushies and Twilight Sparkle would love my book collection.
ReplyDeleteDo you often have people in your bed, Sethisto? Is this what you are trying to subtly imply?
ReplyDeleteI´m not really a collector of stuff from shows/games I like. So I voted for No.
ReplyDeleteMy Desktop is almost empty actually...
I'd buy a Rarity one, put it on my bed, and creep my GF out.
ReplyDelete...well,
creep her out MORE.
I would only get it if it was fluttershy dash or twi.
ReplyDeleteI dont care if i have to rob a bank to get the money if they release a on model fluttershy that isn't to fuzzy I WILL buy it!

@Poultron
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately no, I think I'm the only one that ever even enters my room.
It's fun to pretend people would notice it though.
Now I really want a Twilight Sparkle plushie I can read with in bed like W. Book. Confond these ponies :<
ReplyDelete@Sethisto
A full-size Twilight Sparkle plushie would definitely transform you into the talk of the block. I don't know if that's a good thing, though.
I have two X chromosomes, so I'd have an easier time getting away with plushie-buying than actual male bronies would.
ReplyDeleteTwo months ago, I was like "I WOULD BUY A FLUTTERSHY AND WOULDN'T EVEN CARE" on /co/.
ReplyDeleteNow that it's possible... sigh... i am not man enough ;_;
I nice, molded toy that is easy to hide? Yes!
ReplyDeleteA big plushy thing that I wouldn't be able to hide to save my life? No.
What I want is buy a Twilight Plush doll, AND for Toy Story to be real.
ReplyDeleteOr did I just blow your mind.
A plushy I would buy, but I might use the for my daughter/niece/sister excuse when doing so.
ReplyDeleteI own dozens of plush toys, a few of which that could definitely be considered "girlish" in nature. I don't think a Twilight Sparkle / Rainbow Dash / Rarity plush would draw any extra attention.

I'd buy an Applejack plushie as long as it also comes with her hat. Dammit she needs her hat!
ReplyDeletehoppip here, aka "that guy from /co/ who might be making plushies"
ReplyDeleterainbow_dash_says_oh_my_gosh_over_and_over.jpg
holy FUCK this is a lot of interest
um... what size of plushies are you guys thinking of? I was thinking of something similar to a cat in terms of size
YES!
ReplyDeleteYESS!!
@pyritie
ReplyDeleteDude, Aweome! Maybe a little bit bigger than a cat?
Do you have a gallery of plushies you've made?
We need to send this survey to hasbro and tell them that we aren't even the INTENDED DEMOGRAPHIC!!!
ReplyDelete@Anonymous

don't want to cheat you guys out of your money!
Cry some more about the toys you fags
ReplyDelete(I really like them but you are free to have your opinion)
AnimeAmy (the same girl that did that awesome Derpy Custom that got posted a couple weeks back) has done some G3 plusies that really show-accurate.
ReplyDeletehttp://animeamy.deviantart.com/art/Giant-Cotton-Candy-Pony-Plush-96107279
I wonder how much she'd charge for a G4 custom, but not as HUGE as this!
I would probably pay a little girl to walk into the toy store with me as an excuse.
ReplyDelete@pyritie

Well, at least a plush toy wouldn't cost TOO much to ship. I should know, having sent said giant panda to the U.S.
ReplyDeleteTOTALLY didn't see this poll. :V
ReplyDeleteWell, MAYBE if it was around teddy-bear size, I'd get one...but I wouldn't be able to explain why I have such a thing. It'd end up only being for my sis.
Pssssssssssssst, Sethisto.
ReplyDeleteTwilight Sparkle always brings in the ladies... *WINK*
Yeah, PLEASE send this data to Hasbro. We NEED plushies... and not just those deformed-head babby pony plushies. Actual show-accurate plushies.
ReplyDeleteI would, but a) my father would think I'm gay, and more importantly, b) my Shadow the Hedgehog plushie is good enough for me.
ReplyDeleteIn fact, we should create a song about how much we want said plush! Oh Dear Mrs. Lauren, our rooms are so borin'... etc etc.
ReplyDelete@Zarkanorf
ReplyDeleteNonsense, it's *Dash* who *REALLY* brings in the ladies ;)
I figure they'd have to be about pillow size at least, no smaller. I'd want them to be satisfyingly huggable...
ReplyDelete...Shut up...
I'd so buy a Trixie and a Rarity
ReplyDeleteI've always been a handicrafts person, making my own sketchbooks from scratch and whatnot, but I've never done plushies before.

II would like to AppleJack. went to work instead of to me
ReplyDeleteI would totally walk around with my Applejack plushie.
ReplyDeleteHaters gonna hate.
I want a Twilight Sparkle she could sit on my bookself, and sometimes on my head when I'm drunk.
ReplyDeleteI want a Luna plushie because a.) she needs the love and b.) she's perfect for my night-loving self.
ReplyDeleteShe'd get more hugs than than any other plushie ever.
@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteYeah, a Twilight plush would be a great reading buddy.
I'd have all 6 of the main chars, with derpy laying on her side instead of standing up.
ReplyDeleteI'd buy all of them! :3 (the ones actually in the show, anyway.)
ReplyDeleteOh gods, I'd buy them all. Although I am a girl with a humongous plushie collection anyway, so I guess that's not quite as big a deal as it might feel like to a brony. *patpat* Stay strong. Real men DO watch My Little Pony. The very manliest obsess over it to the point of buying toys.

I'd carry a Derpy with me whatever I went, giving it all the muffins I come across. :3
ReplyDeleteI'd buy 2 or 3, but mostly to my girlfriend x3

ReplyDeleteYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
Would a Rainbow Dash plushie or a Applejack plushie be a good gaming partner?
