Either or in my case. Preferrably BluRay so I can put it in my PS3 and watch it in 1080p. My PC can't seem to keep up with downloaded videos and such at 1080p for some reason, and on Youtube, 1080p is unplayable for my system.
But I don't know if the 1080p issue would still occur if I were watching it from DVD. And even if it did, I could still stick it in my PS3 if the data were there to play it at 1080p.
Also, with so much room on a BluRay, I figure it makes it a whole lot more likely they could put staff commentary and bonus features onto the same disc. If they did those things on BluRay and sold it for < $60, I'd buy it. Without any bonus features, I'd be willing to go up to maybe $40 stretching it.
Not sure how I'd price DVDs but if it's all the episodes and no BluRay exists or it's significantly cheaper, I'd totally go for them.
i'd love some commentary and the sorts on this. i mean i can already get all the episodes for free on youtube, so i would really be getting it for that stuff
Blu-ray here, but only because my brother owns a PS3. If we lose that, I'd be toast. On the other hand, would it be worth buying another Blu-ray player *just* to watch Friendship is Magic in 1080p on the living room TV?
...yes. Yes, it would.
For the poll, how about "What aspect of FiM could be most improved?" Writing, animation, storyboarding, layout, musical direction, humor, main cast participation, MOAR LYRA & BON-BON, etc. If we love this show so much - and we do, we do - why not encourage it to be flawless?
DVD all the way. My brother has a PS3 that basically stays in the living room, and I've never noticed an improvement in a Blu-Ray over a DVD. So I have to wonder what the heck is the point of going from one disc...to another. O.o I know there's supposedly something better about it, but honestly, neither my mom nor I have seen it so far.

USD, specifically. In case that was ambiguous.
You are now Pinkie Pie! What do?
ReplyDeletemore people need to get in the 21st century and get a blu-ray player
ReplyDeleteI voted yes but it depends on the price really

ReplyDelete@Anonymous Blue ray is already obsolete, your buying into a system with a lifespan that will be shorter than DVD.
ReplyDeleteIn five years everyponies video library will be online digital like steam.
I don't understand why you would buy a dvd when the episodes are all free on youtube.
ReplyDelete@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteI refuse to buy the shitty toys so it's a way to support my favorite show. What, do you not like MLP enough to want to see more seasons or something?
I voted Blu-Ray and I don't even have a player. :D
ReplyDeleteI voted blu-ray but I wonder what difference it would be from watching the eps in HD as they air.
ReplyDeleteAlso have we done a favorite pony poll yet?
@Anonymous Oh boy, here we go.
ReplyDelete100 bronies missed the yes button
ReplyDeleteSo...... where was the "both" option?
ReplyDelete@Onsokumaru
ReplyDeleteCrisper image, no artifacting, no watermarks, significantly higher bitrate.
I would buy both
ReplyDeletealso i would buy a Blu-Ray player an a good TV
Everything for the Ponies!

i bought it off itunes, why would i need the dvd, so im wondering where was the vote for: bought it off i tunes.
ReplyDelete@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteTo watch it on something other than an iDevice? Just for the greater freedom that an actual product offers, as opposed to restricted DRM-laden files.
I don't have a blu-ray player so I would buy the dvd's and download rips of the blu-rays if they existed.
ReplyDeleteWhy should I buy a DVD if I can go to synchtube anytime?
ReplyDeleteWhat about renting? Personally I never watch my DVDs more than once or twice so renting seems good.
ReplyDeleteI would buy season 1 on blue-ray. I would love to support this incredible good show
ReplyDelete@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteThe iTunes files look like they were encoded by a blind woodsman. Heads need to hang in shame.
@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteWhy?

I'd definitely get the blu-ray. Being animated a DVD would be good enough though.
ReplyDeleteThey're all on YT and I've got a copy of them, but that doesn't support the producers.
