I honestly never liked horses or ponies, and I still don't. These ponies don't really look like their real counterparts at all, which is probably why I like the show so much.
growin up on a farm you depend on a lot of animals, and the horse is probably the most dependable next to the dog. the only reason i don't like horse is because of the raceing verity
I have a real pony in my garden... and oh how I hate it >.< Imagine you are 22 old male, you love MLP FiM and you have a real pony in your house... my friends loves to make fun of me because of that T.T
I really love killing horses in Mount & Blade: Warband and everytime I see a horse get killed in a movie, I think its pretty hilarious. I don't know why.
I like horses. I used to be terrified of them when I was little, cause I had an accident when I was riding one. But time past and I actually started to like them and grow a connection to one. And ever since I discovered this show. I gave more appreciation to them then I ever did before.
All through elementary school, and until 7th grade, my mother worked on a horse farm, were people would bring horses that were getting too old to keep doing whatever they'd been doing, or where various agencies would send horses rescued from harsh lifestyles, like abused racing horses and the type. I would be there a lot, with my mom picking me up from school and then going back there to finish her day at work, so I did manage to grow up around a lot of horses. I never really felt any real like or dislike towards them, but they were cool enough to see, especially when they'd have draft horses that were over 9 feet tall.
I used to own an old horse that we treated like a dog. Run out and pet it, give it food, run around with it, etc. Saved it from becoming dogfood since she was old. Sad day when she finally broke her leg and we had to put her down.
I worked on a farm through high school. The horses were probably the easiest (and least messy/smelly/HURR DURR I'M A HUGE ANIMAL I'M GONNA WALK INTO YOU) to deal with so they've always had a bit of a soft spot in my heart. Probably would have been a bit more enjoyable if they were like Faust's horses though.
Wooow, I'm pretty surprised that "No" won, especially considering how popular horses/ponies are in general. O.o I said yes, of course. I'm an insane animal lover. I love what few others love and can find the cuteness in just about anything you show me. But horses? Yeah. I've ridden, and I like to be around them; I generally think they're fabulous. Even have a book about 'em. My rural weekend home is surrounded, too...heck, at one point I was considering 'Communications in the Equine Industry' as a college major. O.o
Of course, dogs are my favorite animals far and away. Followed by fishes and other sea creatures. I adore cats as well. True, the new ponies don't look like real ponies. Maybe they remind me of dogs and that's part of my reason for loving this show so much. At any rate, they're ponylike *enough* for me. I just absolutely adore the style and character designs.
how can you not like horses? i can understand being impartial, but actually disliking them? My family had three and they all thought they where dogs. But the dogs also developed identity issues and starting grazing beside the horses.
Equines are pretty much the creatures that helped humans become what we are today. If we never trained them, we wouldn't have traveled nearly as far, we wouldn't have been able to make some of the most critical early advancements, and vast aspects of our society would be different without them. Hell yes I love equines, they pretty much made us.
They're also stupid inexplicably emotionally weak animals that get scared by their own shadow for no apparent reason who are worshiped by parts of the female population for some strange reason.
I like equines... horses and ponies (not to mention donkeys and mules) are a LOT smarter and more personable than most people give them credit for. And the smallest ones (miniature horses and small ponies) are so smart, some people are training them to be service animals since they live longer than dogs, and can ALSO be house trained! (Regular horses and ponies are probably also house-trainable, but not many people want a full size horse walking around in their house...)
I'd just like to note that I hate horses, HATE them, with every fiber of my being, as they say.
Hate!!! That's three exclamation points, people.
I've painted their stupid fences with their special stupid paint and fed them their stupid oats and carried their stupid hay and what do they do? Sit there and look dumb and take up acres and acres of otherwise usable space with their freakin grass, that's what! And they're total jerks, too! Those friggin things will kill you if you give them half a chance, just for the fun of it. They don't care. They don't care.
I took riding lessons when I was younger, and worked at the barn as groom and camp councilor. Later, I had two horses on my property too. I still go trail riding back home when I get the chance.
I like horses, but when I was little I was rather afraid of them. I was afraid they would either kick me or bite me with their ferocious horse teeth...
The only time I liked horses is when I used to eat them while I was stationed overseas. Nothing like horse sashimi with some Sapporo. Otherwise, they are ugly, smelly animals.
I, uh, like them, kinda. I just don't dislike them. but i HATE THEM at the parades they're really unclean and leave sh•t everywhere, I already had some bad experiences.
={ One of my best friends (a guy) dislikes horses...thinks they're terrifying. I don't get it. I've never been afraid of them, ever. Aside from being majestic and intelligent and symbolic of so many things and all of that, as someone pointed out--where would human civilization be without equines? We all owe so very, very much to animals, particularly the horse and the dog.
I know some people dislike the way they can smell and be dirty and such...xD But I never minded. YES, I do like them irl! They were never my favorite kind of animal, but always ranked somewhere up pretty high.
Parents keep horses, so I've been around them for years.. Therefore I would say I like them, but at the same time they scare the crumbs out of me. Never ridden one and I've only stroked one behind the fence/stable door.
As a furry (ohmagad) myself, I was probably the only person on Earth not to like animals in general. Now, after a couple of years, I think I understand them a lot better somehow, so that's certainly possible.
Never seen a horse in my life, less of all a pony.
I've liked horses for decades. I did ride one once, but I would not go out of my way to ride a horse. I cater to the Przewalski horses at work. They may be "wild" but they're very friendly, especially the old mare. They smell great, the youngsters are nippy and pushy and generally fun to be with.
I love horses, I've ridden and shown them since 2nd grade, played polo in college, mucked stalls to pay for lessons, the works. I'm sadly horse-less right now, (curse you depressed job market!) but hopefully soon I can start riding again.
I have no real love for them, but they are pretty cool animals. Frankly I find the idea of handling an animal that could easily kill me if it wanted to somewhat disconcerting though.
I play Red Dead Redemption. Thats the only other connetion I have to horses, Ive seen them since I have a friend who llives really close to a riding school. I like them because they are have always been there as trusty steeds for us humans when we wanted to go somewhere, and if you put armor on it its pretty cool but I dont like that they poop...

I think real horses are ugly and fat.
ReplyDeleteEverytime I see real horses or something about real ponies they remind me everytime about MLP.

ReplyDeleteI used to ride horses, so I kind of have a liking to them.
ReplyDeleteHorses are big scary things that killed Christopher Reeve.
ReplyDeleteMy Little Ponies are awesome. :3
Moreso than the "Yes" or "No" votes I wonder about the people who saw a question about whether they like horses and responded "It's complicated."
ReplyDeleteu...um. I voted other. b-because it is complicated. um, sorry.
ReplyDeleteequines irl just look too much like mlp of the olden times.
ReplyDeleteI have a real pony in my garden... and oh how I hate it >.<

I know real life equines aren't as cute as the ones from MLP. But horses are majestous animals.
ReplyDeleteI really love killing horses in Mount & Blade: Warband and everytime I see a horse get killed in a movie, I think its pretty hilarious. I don't know why.
ReplyDeleteWhat exactly does "Other" entail...?
ReplyDeleteYeah really, wtf does "Other" mean?
ReplyDeleteHorses look cool.
ReplyDeleteBut.
Other.
It's not like I dislike them but...
ReplyDeleteI really felt like this poll was lacking an "indifferent" option. I guess "other" covers it, but still.
ReplyDeleteI don't care if real ponies can't sing and talk and aren't pastel colored, I wanna pony.
ReplyDeleteI WANT IT NOOWWWW.
Other probably means neutral or you change your opinion from time to time.
ReplyDeleteHate 'em. Especially red ones, with their black wheels and striped pai... wait. wrong kind of horses...
ReplyDeleteDon't really care about horses or ponies or My Little Ponies.
ReplyDeleteOnly one of those is a lie.
@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteI'm much like this fellow and seeing as how my name literally means "lover of horses" I had to vote yes in this poll.

ReplyDeleteI have a half pony have evil horse, It bucked me off once and it also stepped on me another time (My knee still acts up now and again)
ReplyDeleteOff topic:
ReplyDeleteDid anyone else notice goggles mode?
Wtf seth?
I think horses are beautiful, but stinky. I think ponies look a little weird.

ReplyDeleteOther it is.
G1-3 ponies: annoying
ReplyDeleteFiM ponies: fun!
Real ponies/horses: FUCKING SCARY AS HELL
These ponies are cats primarily. And cats are adorable, so ponies with cat morphology are more adorable. (less claws to worry about)
ReplyDeleteMy opinion on real horses depends greatly on how I'm doing at the track.
ReplyDeleteNah, not really. They're majestic, and although I can't picture myself having one, I respect them.
I used to own an old horse that we treated like a dog. Run out and pet it, give it food, run around with it, etc. Saved it from becoming dogfood since she was old. Sad day when she finally broke her leg and we had to put her down.
ReplyDeletetru fax
No...I mean, 'yes'... I mean, 'maybe'...
ReplyDeleteI...love horses. I really do. They're... nice.

ReplyDeleteHorses take a shit whenever they feel like it :/
ReplyDeleteno thanks
One of my worst allergies is to horses.
ReplyDeleteAlong with all the other crap said about 'em.
Are there wild ponies out there?
ReplyDeleteWooow, I'm pretty surprised that "No" won, especially considering how popular horses/ponies are in general. O.o I said yes, of course. I'm an insane animal lover. ReplyDeleteI like horses.
ReplyDeleteThey're a lot of work to maintain, but they can be quite pleasant to be around.

ReplyDeleteGrew up around horses.
ReplyDeleteLove them so much.
But yes, Poni != pony
They're neat looking.
ReplyDeleteThey're also stupid inexplicably emotionally weak animals that get scared by their own shadow for no apparent reason who are worshiped by parts of the female population for some strange reason.
I may very well, in fact, be mad.

ScrEW! THEM!
I like horses. Back when I was in Girl Scouts, I would always go to the riding camps since I never got to see horses in town except during parades.
ReplyDeleteI like horses, when they're *over there*. And the farther over there they are, the better I like them.
ReplyDeleteIt should also be noted I live in Wyoming. Needless to say I Am Not Happy About This.
I took riding lessons when I was younger, and worked at the barn as groom and camp councilor. Later, I had two horses on my property too. I still go trail riding back home when I get the chance.
ReplyDeleteI like horses, but when I was little I was rather afraid of them. I was afraid they would either kick me or bite me with their ferocious horse teeth...
ReplyDeletei own a horse

ReplyDeleteI spend most weekends horse riding so my responce to the poll should be obvious.
ReplyDeleteI love riding too and obviously I love horses.
ReplyDeleteParents keep horses, so I've been around them for years.. Therefore I would say I like them, but at the same time they scare the crumbs out of me.
ReplyDeleteNever ridden one and I've only stroked one behind the fence/stable door.
I am more neutral toward horses, I tend to like animals in general, so I just put down that I liked them.
ReplyDelete"I didn't, but I do now."

ReplyDeleteWhy isn't there a "none" option in the new poll?
ReplyDeleteHOW DID I MISS THIS???
ReplyDeleteAnyway, it IS funny to see horses poop on the street, so yes.
@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteBecause they already had a poll about whether you like fanfiction at all.
I picked "other". Why? Because I'm indifferent to IRL horses. But I do love steak. HORSE STEAK.
ReplyDelete...I wonder how the FiM ponies would taste...
Yes I LOVE horses and cats! (and Orcas) <3
ReplyDeleteOh guys, so much nice stories here! ^^)
I'm not a fan of any animal I can't beat in a fair fight.
ReplyDeleteI love horses, I've ridden and shown them since 2nd grade, played polo in college, mucked stalls to pay for lessons, the works. I'm sadly horse-less right now, (curse you depressed job market!) but hopefully soon I can start riding again.

ReplyDeleteLate to the party as usual, but...
ReplyDeleteI love horses; they're wonderful, beautiful creatures. How could anyone NOT like them?
I've never liked horses, but these highly stylized bundles of fun and friendship are an amazing alternative!
ReplyDeleteI play Red Dead Redemption. Thats the only other connetion I have to horses, Ive seen them since I have a friend who llives really close to a riding school.
