I know the majority of you are going to go absolutely ballistic over the very idea of a wiki designed for people to post their ORIGINAL CHARACTER DO NOT STEAL ponies, but for the 20% of you that wont, here is a place for you to show off your demi-god, katana weilding, fire elemental, succubus pony from the depths of Azeroth for all the world to see!
OC's have always been a big part of MLP pre-Friendship is Magic. It's something those of us following this cute-overload pony bandwagon probably aren't used to. I am slowly adjusting to it, and hell some of them (death for example up there) are actually pretty freakin awesome.

Do pony-ized characters count as OC's? I mean, if we were doing a Half-Life crossover, and we made the main character of Half-Life into a pony, would Gordon Freemane be considered an OC?
ReplyDeleteOn that same note, would a humanized pony count as an OC if the pony in question was one of the main cast, like Twilight?
You know, it's not that bad a site. And it can be useful sometimes for IRC. Just sayin', that's all.
ReplyDeleteEeeeeeeeeeeeeeh.
ReplyDeleteeeeh.
@Cereal VelocityThose were very nearly words. Try again, please.
ReplyDeleteDear god. Just fucking kill it all with fire and napalm.
ReplyDeleteIt's not like it's going to be another Sonic Fanbase thing all over again, the wikia even says recolors don't count.
ReplyDeletePlus, I think it's more to keep track of the characters for roleplays and such more than anything
THIS IS SO FUCKIN AWESOME!
ReplyDeleteThis is only now known to you?
ReplyDeleteIt's been common knowlege of /b/ for ages, as evidenced by things like large entry on Wastelander
@Darkhawk1 The general consensus seems to be yes to the first, no to the second.
ReplyDeleteThese kind of things can see some Mary Sue characters, but for the most part it's harmless fun. People on the larger forums just like to have a unique pony to decorate their sigs with, and at cons they can customize their "special" pony to carry around with them.
...Or so I've heard.
@Jenny
ReplyDeleteSo that means Solid Stallion is an OC?
...Dang!
I congratulate the one who thought of this. Absolutely the best way of keeping this stuff out of threads.
ReplyDeleteIf you excuse me, I will now try to find a name for my pony.
I have an article....I'm not sure whether to feel violated or strangely flattered....Probably a mix of both..
ReplyDeleteDude. Awesome. Thanks for the link, Sethisto!
ReplyDelete@Putuk Yes. It also, unfortunately, means that you can slap your favorite (awful) band's logo onto a pony's rump and call it an OC.
ReplyDeleteThe pony community is very kooky and all-accepting.
What is the big deal anyway? IF you like OC stuff, there are places like the above you can use or check out (they have a section on FiMchan too), if you hate that stuff, you can totally avoid it.
ReplyDeleteYeah there is potential for major Mary Sue abuse, but maybe it will be kept in check through negative opinion. Also has the big potential to be creative and develop story level characters. Let people have their fun.
@Squeak
ReplyDeleteI dunno, is it good?
Wow, some really great creations on there, actually...:D
ReplyDeleteI'm a bit confused by this.. I have a GREAT fanfic in mind but it includes some Official Characters popping up. So, i can't make the future main 6, with the old ones popping up? Please Help!
ReplyDeleteThis is great, but i'm not sure if ponified characters should count as oc. I'm ok with it, but I just think they should have a seperate page, you know so they're easier to tell apart.
