theres other good cartoons~ you just gotta look for um, adventuretime/chowder/flapjack were all pretty good. and nick has good ones from time to time, their just burried in their annoying programs
the Dan Vs. cartoon is actually humorous and has slight adult tones, the guy gets revenge at the drop of a hat.
Also Pinky would still be my first choice for minion, if I didn't already have a few.
Reminds me of maurice the carrot, pharfignewton Pinky's love even if its odd (which is a horse), Larry the gerbil and Billy the female mouse that tried to earn Pinky's affections and failed spectacularly. (Pinky was the frienship master, almost taking over the world before Derpy style existed. His Narf style lives on in legends and he was always secretly smarter then the brain and enjoyed life far more)
Oh awesome, this made it on here. I'm glad, it's way too good to have stayed hidden but to the 30 or so people hanging around on the board it originated from. Props, Jahkaivah. Truly you are the greatest of us.
Oh man, I can't believe I never thought of Pink(y)ie and The Brain (Twilight). Enjoyed this vid, but it just makes me miss the cartoon itself even more.
That said, I kinda get the same vibe with Snips and Snails, and wouldn't mind seeing an all background-ponies episode if they had their own short 2-5 minute segment. Extremely unlikely with the Celestia reports, though.
Tiny Toons + Animaniacs + Freakazoid = I loved the WB '90s.
Now? FiM is the only one I consistently watch. Phineas & Ferb is good quality; I ought to watch it more often. Heard Dan Vs is decent. Adventure Time is way too spastic for me (plus unsightly). Haven't seen Regular Show yet. Venture Brothers is okay, but I'm burnt out on Adult Swim as it is.
FiM stubbornly refuses to let go of its idealistic charm amidst all its greatness. I do respect.
I loved '90s cartoons as much as anyone else, but I actually think we're in a sort of new golden age of cartoons. People have already mentioned Adventure Time and Regular Show, and Dan Vs. and all that. I think it's a good time to like animation.
90's and early 2000's cartoons are the best...My opinion
Good cartoons: Dexter's Laboratory, Powerpuff girls, Fosters Home, shaolin showdown(anyone remember that one?), Pinkie and the brain, list goes on (CAN'T FORGET MLP: FIM!!!)
Bad Cartoons: Adventure time, chowder, misadventures of flapjack, regular show, and all the crap CN is making right now...
Now I'll be humming that theme song till somebody kills me for it. There are other good cartoons now. I just can't think of any. Can Wakfu be considered a cartoon?
Anyone miss the old disney ducktales, rescue rangers, darkwing duck and ect.?
Some of the greatest cartoons that ever existed need to be listed.(Darn you saint patricks syndrome, I can't stop ryhming it's in my limb bone. The funny one where the laughter is sown and seems to have continued to be grown)
Also what is it with Rarity disliking green, it's a wonderful color that's always seen.
The poor Carrot pony had a nice shade of green, then she went and changed it because Rarity was being mean. (Look to Boast Busters for that scene)
And don't say orange will help because invetibly I find a way to use the words 'door hinge' which makes me yelp.
@ChromeCrash I love adventure time, but that's because of my heavy DnD background. That show is made for people who play a lot of DnD, and most of the jokes go right over the heads of most viewers.
I miss the cartoons from the 90's. I grew up on Tiny Toons and Animaniacs. Nothing since can compare. The supposedly popular shows now: Chowder, Adventure Time, Flapjack, and similar shows are just irritating and half of the animation creeps the hell out of me. It seriously twigs uncanny valley when I watch them. *shudders*
While not Animaniacs, I like how FiM is similar in that there are film and T.V. references that only adults and 90's kids would get.
"Dear Princess Celestia, Today I learned that while it is important to keep your friendships strong, it is just as important to go out and make new friends. Your Faithful student, Twilight Sparkle."
There. A moral for it. Now we can focus on background ponies. Yay!
I'll always love animation, and there are always *some* decent, or great, cartoons on...or at the very least, certain episodes that can be worth the watch. But the 80s and 90s were unbeatable. I grew up on the classic old school Nick and Cartoon Network and WB shows and such...good times, damn good times. Anyway, MLP:FiM is bringing back a realization of animation's full potential for awesome. THAT narftastic vid up there rocked my proverbial socks right off, thanks muchly.
Even though I like Adventure Time and LOVE Regular Show, I can perfectly understand why they'd creep out some people. It seems like CN's comedy department is focusing exclusively on producing surrealist cartoons starring a pair of dudebros and not even bothering with any other comedic styles. Aside from AT and RS, there's also Robotomy (which was OK but shortlived) and, unfortunately, this upcoming atrocity: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4dHyB1kRDNc
In that context, FiM is actually refreshing because it isn't trippy or weird like that, it's imaginative and creative in an earnest way and it offers great animation AND writing almost on the level of the 90's WB Silver Age cartoons. In a way, it's the show I hoped Adventure Time would be like. I like AT, but sometimes seems like it's more interested in being flat-out weird than having a consistently strong story or characterization.
Dan VS seems to be pretty good too, so maybe The Hub will become a refreshing alternative to the excessive weirdness of current CN cartoons.

ReplyDeleteI agree 100%... Nothing can compare... except cartoons that are actually good (I miss Pucca...;_;)
Awesome video. Laughed pretty hard.
ReplyDeleteAlso: Pretty much any cartoon that is liked on /co/ is worth watching. This is why shit like the barbie movies don't have any threads.
I MISS MEGA BABIES
