As revealed by the comments though, this episode has a lot of potential!
If it is in fact a flashback for the normal characters in their childhood, expect the most discussable episode to date!

The only thing that was worse than this episode was the moral at the end of it.
ReplyDeleteI'm optimistic. It will probably be mostly composed of memories/fadebacks.
ReplyDeletesounds like a Flashback episode to me.
ReplyDeleteThis is what friendship is all about
ReplyDeleteWhy the sad Twilight?
ReplyDeleteWE'LL SEE THE MANE CAST AS LITTLE FILLIES
Hopefully, we'll see a scared Pinkie and her granny telling her about laughing
BABBY PONIES FOR EVERYONE
im much more annoyed by the two week gap then the Cutie Mark crusaders.. the last gap was not pleasant.
ReplyDeletebesides its sound like the Crusaders act like more of a plot device to give a reason for the other ponies to have flashbacks.
Yeah, I'm cool with a flashback episode.
ReplyDeleteBabby mane cast being cute and shit?
ReplyDeleteYesplz
Today's episode I didn't like, but this one sounds like a flashback episode. I'm actually excited for it! I love those.
ReplyDeleteSounds interesting =)
ReplyDeleteIt can't be flashback to earlier episodes atleast and it will be nice seeing some background of the ponies.
Hopefully we get to see everyone as fillies; that'd be adorable.
ReplyDeleteAnd if you're looking for an image to use for CMC episode announcements:

Also, what happened to episode 22?
ReplyDeleteYOU KNOW IMAGINE BABY FLUTTERSHY
ReplyDeleteIt's not entirely reliable but I always look at wickepedia for cartoon episodes.

CMC rules, y'all just hatin'.
ReplyDelete@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteDerpy thought it was a Muffin and ate it.
If the main focus is on the flashbacks of main cast as fillies then I will probably like it.
ReplyDeleteThis is going to have to be shown a the opening,
Surgeon General's Warning: The follow episode may cause diabetes, cavities, and possible addiction as it contains My Little Ponies as fillies.
MORE crusaders? Ugh. Don't get me wrong, the fillies are cute. But they're just SO annoying.
ReplyDeleteIf it's focused more on flashbacks and the main cast's backstory, I can live with this.
I'm gonna kill myself with a carrot now
ReplyDelete@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteThis will indeed be a flashback episode.
I do not know about you, but I feel that the first season will finish with the return of Nightmare Moon has been invoked by Mark Cutie Crusaders because she promised to give them a Cutie Mark for each . So it should end with a moral "does not seek to imitate a model, be yourself."
In any case, it remains a personal view that I can very well be wrong.
I'm OK with CMC. But it seems like we will se more main 6 than CMC in this episode. Good!
ReplyDeleteits sounds like the CMC is more of a plot device in that episode then the main characters.
ReplyDelete@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteSeeing the main characters as fillies will be about the most adorable thing ever. I think I would enjoy that episode greatly, and then I will have to go to the dentist from all the cavities I acquired.
Sad twi makes fillys scared! :C
ReplyDeleteShe needs to be happy, shes purple, she needs to be all like this:
"BUH! I LOVE BEING PURPLE!"
I'm looking forward to this.
all I have to say is
ReplyDeleteFilly Fluttershy.....
If it means seeing where Pinkie Pie's cutie-mark came from, then I'm for it. Twilight's too. Well heck, I'll probably enjoy the whole darn thing.
ReplyDeleteWhen I saw the sad Twilight picture, I thought something serious happened, but then, Cutie Mark Crusaders.
ReplyDeleteI don't really get the hate on them, I actually like them. They're cute and they do cute things!
@Naxts
ReplyDeleteIt's not so much "Hate," so much as it is... hmmm...
I think it's that they take away from the show that which makes it so likable- the maturity of the characters, the fact that they don't act like little babies, their certain je ne se quois, you know? The CMC's are cute, and I do like them individually, but the episodes revolving around them tend to feel like something on "Playhouse Disney," "PBS Kids," or "Nick Junior."
On another note, I look forward to this new episode. Doesn't look like there'll be much time for the CMC's, bringing the focus back onto the main characters.
Meh, those crusaders are starting to annoy me. I mean, when they appeared first, it was quite cool, the second time, it was ok, but now, it's just annoying.
ReplyDeleteI think it will be interesting to see how Twilight was when she was little, she seems like she would be a very mature filly.
ReplyDeleteRainbow Dash's cutie mark acquisition probably involved something along the lines of,
"THAT WAS AWESOME!"
this is going to be flashbacks of episodes that never existed! could be win.
ReplyDeleteEpisode 22 would have fallen on APR Fool's were if not for the weeek gap. I think it would be quite epic to have a APR Fool's episode starting Pinkie personally.
ReplyDeleteA... A backstory
ReplyDeleteFor all of them?
WHOO HOO!
Oh snap that means I need to get my ass in gear and f nish my story before it invalidates!
>other ponies to learn how they got their cutie marks.
ReplyDeleteWHO CARES ABOUT THE CMC THIS IS GOLD
FILLY MANE CAST AWW YEAH
@Sandman Probably antisocial or a pariah who was quiet and like to lose herself in books to escape the reality that she didn't have many friends.
ReplyDelete@Anonymous *Liked
ReplyDelete@Anonymous That makes sense, and I can see her maturity being born out of isolation.
ReplyDelete@Sandman I'm just glad I don't have to explain myself. The reason I think that this might be the case for her upbringing is because that was much the way I grew up.
ReplyDeleteThis must be the episode Lauren was talking about when she said we'd get to meet the pony parents before long. If so, that alone will make the episode worth seeing.
ReplyDelete@Anonymous I saw your reasoning because that is how I grew up as well. It is one of the reasons why she is my favorite, it is so easy for me to relate.
ReplyDeleteYou have no friends at your age so you mature quickly and immerse yourself in books so you can interact with those who are likely to be mature enough to see beyond the surface.
(Not you as in 'you', but you as in describing a generalized example)
I apologize if this doesn't come out right.
@Sandman I understand fully what you are saying. If you have no friends then you find other things to fill that void. The characters in books are often times as real and as likable as real people, and so, given enough time, you will learn more about the scholarly side of things, such as literature and science. But because you are often discluded and therefore must watch the other children/adults/people, you will learn more about the world, such as the way people think, and the interactions of society.
ReplyDelete@Anonymous Exactly, and while the time spent within the numerous texts lends towards a greater capacity for objective thinking and rational decisions, the lack of actual interaction with others causes you to be very cautious when doing so.
ReplyDeleteYou may possess an observational knowledge of societal interactions, but the lack of experience in implementing that knowledge results in you being unsure and reserved when dealing with people or putting out your opinion. This is to prevent accidentally offending someone or coming off a certain way, which would lead you back to escaping reality within the pages of a book.
The lack of true experience also causes you to have a difficult time picking up subtle emotional cues that would otherwise be understandable for someone who has lived differently.
The situation regarding Twilight could be considered immersion therapy of a sort. Unable to simply complete the given task and retreat back into solitude she must learn how to interact with others.
I think this came out right, my apologies if not.
If I see even a cameo of filly!Zecora, I will squeal like a little girl. And I'm a 27 year old guy.
ReplyDeleteThis is going to cause me more dental work and I don't care <3
@Sandman Don't be so quick to say sorry over things that you have nothing to be sorry about. You are very good at iterating your points through writing and I am able to read and understand exactly what you are saying with great ease.
ReplyDeleteWhat you wrote is essentially what I said, but in a more in depth, eloquent, fashion than I could have.
prob already questioned, where did cherrilee?? or whatever's pack come from? her mark wasn't her flower mark before either More like three bubble dots. hmm...
ReplyDelete@Anonymous Thank you, it is just that sometimes I cannot get the words quite right for what I mean and it messes up whatever point I am trying to get across. Though that is mainly when I speak and I was worried that it might carry over to this.
ReplyDeleteAnd your own points are stated very well, it is nice to build off of such good replies. Your analysis caused my to reexamine my own and come to an even greater result.
I have truly enjoyed this and find it somewhat amusing how the comment section regarding an upcoming episode transformed into an in-depth psycho-social analysis.
@Naxts
ReplyDeleteI agree! I think they're cute, and not annoying.
You know, Jeffrey Dahmer was known for his preference of interfacing with older people (specifically middle-aged or older women) over his peers, as Blog Brony is suggesting he did... Or maybe it was another serial killer. ONE of those crazies had that quirk, that I remember.
ReplyDeleteEveryone's so sure that this ep will be flashbacks... I predict verbal storytimes in the present day... that is to say, no mane cast as fillies at all (it would piss me off, but at this point I will expect the worst so that anything else is a pleasant surprise.
ReplyDelete@Anonymous Really?
ReplyDeleteHmm, I have yet to find any information confirming that but it would not be surprising if he was. Dahmer was a shy and insecure as a child, and children like that usually prefer dealing with those older because they are less likely to judge them.
I doubt you can hang an episode on verbal storytelling. We've gotten hints of Rainbow Dash's - after her first race - but it was short and to the point.
ReplyDeleteI'm absolutely hoping for flashbacks. I've spent months with the six ponies who show up in the intro. I'm only tangentially interested in the rest of them.
So THAT's what Lauren Faust was talking about when she said we would see the older ponys' parents "soon."
ReplyDeleteSee: http://mylittleponytales.tumblr.com/post/3634455945/lauren-faust-says-all-of-the-ponies-have-parents
No new ep this week was disappointing, but it was good to see Ticket Master again, at least. During the long, hard wait for Season 2, I look forward to re-watching the first one from the beginning.
ReplyDeleteEpisode 23 is going to blow minds beyond all recognition, I'm sure of it. I for one like the CMC, but now we're supposed to witness flashbacks revealing how the mane 6 got their cutie marks. Yeah, we're in for a real treat, I'm thinkin'...you've no clue how pumped I am. (Well actually, maybe y'all do.) The teaser trailer and 3 possible Rainbow Dash backstories tonight just stoked the fire. >3 Bring this on!!!
