this episode was unlike any before. stuffed with action, awesome and wtf it completely overloads the audience's intake-abilities and gives you the feeling of getting pummeled by a burning rainbow of glorious win.
Was watching with my brother over for a visit, so I kinda missed the intro. But MY WORD FROM WHAT I SAW THE AMOUNT OF APPEAL FROM SEVERAL DIFFERENT ANGLES IS AAAAAA*EXPLOISIVEfainting*.
I'm going to be rewatching this one a lot. A lot of enjoyment was had between Spike's dreams and Rarity's voice being unusually... pleasing and amusing to the ears. We'll see if it stands through time, but I'm about ready to put it above Look Before you Sleep, which is my absolute favorite episode up until now.
"Please, Twilight. Give me this." And he'll never be able to pull that stunt again.
That was hilarious... so does this make up for the Crusader episodes(I had nothing agaisnt them) or what? Also I'm not the biggest Rarity fan, but this episode was great.
I got to miss Sonic Rainboom due to random events, DIDN'T miss Staremaster and Show Stoppers, and now that apparently things got back to awesome the great RNG in the sky struck me again!? HOW IS THAT FAIR, I ASK YOU!
That was...mediocre. The villains didn't have personality - you're not going to see the Diamond Dogs replace Gilda or Trixie any time soon. The dream sequences were just filling time. I didn't care if Team Whiny or Team Screechy wins as long as they all stop talking.
And the entire main cast would buck someone off the exact same way? No stare? No poing? No Unicorn TK?
The greatest episodes are about friendship and how it's magic. I just couldn't get into this one.
I would have preferred to see Rariy in a little ACTION, being more proactive as a means of escape rather than whining.
I mean, if a woman whines enough you can just hit her. I'm not encouraging spousal abuse but seriously the Diamond Dogs woulda been so much more dangerous if they'd really treated her MORE like a beast of burden, whipping her, chaining her up...SOMETHING!
I can tell there is going to be a shitload of new image macros from this episode.
Spike holding his "tail" (come on, I'm not the only one who thought his tail looked like something else) while digging Spike trying to kiss Applejack Spike slobbering
Speaking of episodes, the "Staremaster" is showing as the "Stairmaster" in the download and stream list. Fix plz? Or is there a joke that's just going right over my head here?
On a semi-related note, The sound for the .AVI download for Feeling Pinkie Keen is a bit off... Actually wait, the framerate for the video is slow. >this needs to be fixed plox.
I loved it!!!! Definitely re-watching this one. Rarity was awesome. :3 And Spike kinda annoys me (idk why he just does...maybe it's his voice.) but he was adorable in this episode. I loved his interactions with Rarity too! And I'm glad we got to see the whole cast again, I missed them so much after two CMC episodes.
It's now up in HD 1080p: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9wAMVBFWvFg http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RfLGLk7K8Ic Second part is still being processed, though. 1080p should be available shortly.
Whats with all the hyper analytical trolls here today? You guys do realize this isn't The Wire we're watching here right? I mean, am I seriously reading peoples complaints about the lack of subtle character depth and pot conflict in a cartoon where a magic talking pony is kidnaped by dog-moles?
As for the episode, I liked it alot! I don't think it's the very best, but it's definitely up there. Spike's heroic fantasy and "HI HO, TWILIGHT" are definitely the hardest I've ever laughed at the show.
I liked the episode, not one of my favorites but it was enjoyable; also my like of Rarity just went up a few more points, she is really growing on me as a character.
Someone just have to say this... with her manners, love and desire for gems, abbility to keep business going in any circumstances and battle yell-fu... Yep... Rarity simply MUST be Jewish ^^ (about the last ability - watch Hebrew Hammer for that one). Hope none offence taken ;)
I loved Rarity in this ep and it had one of the few morals I could see any poignancy in from the last however many eps. I kind of resent the fact that Spike seems to be stealing the spotlight, but I can't complain much.
Also, to anyone who wanted essentially torture porn like one of the commenters further up, you are a terrible person forever.
I loved this episode, Rarity definitely earned lots of points in this one. I'm a little surprised that no-one yet has brought up her 4th wall moment, I mean, she grabbed the 'camera' at one point. That'd make her a rival to Pinkie in terms of awareness.
(also, my apologies if a post similar to this gets placed by the same name, my PC is doing odd things)
Mule *knocks on door* *Rarity opens door to find a group of mules outside* Mule: So I heard We're stupid and ugly? ------------------------------------- And you can take it from there Good ep, also is it necessary to be this in depth in criticism for a kids show?
Okay, Rarity is a moving up the ranks in my pony order. First her Suited for Success, now this?? Rarity, you can star in a episode any time you want if it's as good as this.
Well, if you really want to know. The diamond dogs were one-dimensional villains who were too passive to present a credible threat and too obnoxious to even be comedic. The other five ponies played virtually interchangeable parts, without the unique characterization that they usually get even when sidelined. This episode forfeited a wonderful opportunity for character development with respect to Spike's infatuation for Rarity. Rarity can really shine when she takes center stage, but she still can't unbland a script like this.
@Purple Tinker Nope. I caught it too. "Precious Pony" made me crack up the first time I heard it. :) But I was too busy re-watching the episode and enjoy Rarity at her Rarity-est to comment.
This was a simply awesome episode. I adored Rarity's whining and complaining and manipulating the dogs like that. Pinkie Pie's Roller Coaster ride was doubly awesome, though.
Eh, can't say I was particularly fond of the villains in this ep, I was really expecting (based off the pre-released description) more along the line of beefy bull dogs since they'd have the cartoon physique most likely to kidnap a character. These characters just seemed like unrelatable push overs.
Seemed like they were fighting one stereotype (that girls shouldn't be presumed weak based on their personalities) while simultaneously reinforcing the nagging relationship that is stereotyped to women (I look no further than Timmy Turner which portrays women as nagging and men are drooling dolts via the god parents).
I recognize that the story tellers are walking a fine line of political correctness while trying to keep the audience interested (and in all honesty not primarily looking to please the older audience in every aspect), I just don't think I'd classify this episode above Sonic Rainboom as some have proclaimed, which I thought led into the moral better
@Anonymous Well, anon, when two dragons of the opposite sex love each other verrrrrry much, they, uhh, fornicate with one another as a means of sharing their affection for each other. Once this is done, the female dragon will generally become "pregnant" meaning that in the near future, she will bear an egg holding a newborn baby dragon (in this case, spike). A few months later, this baby dragon will be able to live and grow outside of it's egg, at which point he has the opportunity to place items, such as Spike's gems, inside his skin pockets.
It got a lot of laughs, but I didn't think it was "the best". I mean, really, the dogs couldn't just gag her? Lame, lame villains. I'd have preferred Rarity to be a bit less whiny and more manipulative. It would have helped the moral if she didn't win by default because the dogs were idiots.
Rarity's real talent: Huh. Who'da thunk? I guess that explains her cutie mark, though. It's funny, in the very first episode, I was going "She sure uses a lot of of gemstones..." Well, I guess this explains it! Only in Equestria are piles of jewels buried inches underground...
maybe im just an addict, but when the diamond dog said "trinkets" i instantly thought of darkweaaver syth (from WoW(i had to look up his name im not THAT knowledgeable)) I swear, it sounded JUST like him
I really liked this episode, the only thing that disappointed me was already pointed out by others: the threat was downplayed because the dogs were idiots who couldn't just simply gag Rarity to shut her up. I know this is a kids show but the hydra and the cock-a-thingy felt like real threats but these guys, well I expected them to be more badass. Everything else was awesome.
That was quite possibly the funniest thing I have watched all week. Props to the creative team... and screw them for making a my little pony show that is actually watchable! But still thanks for making it watchable though :P
I think whoever was responsible for this episode had some good ideas, but lost interest to work them out properly along the way.
And so they snatched defeat from the clutches of victory by having a potentially captivating and funny story going for a dumb empty laugh nearly every time.
When Chris Moon was kidnapped by the Khmer Rouge in 1993, nobody accused him of being womanly or manipulative when he manipulated them into letting him go. He was routinely praised as a hero. (and rightly so.)
Beefcake Spike looked a little goofy to me, honestly. Why would a young dragon fantasize about being an adult anthropomorphic dragon, when we've seen how bad-ass regular adult dragons are in this show?
On the other hand/hoof/paw, he did remind me of those musclebound He-Man type heroes that were common back in the '80s. And since the plot of this episode was straight out of '80s cartoon school, it sort of fits.
Majority of the complaints I've seen about the episode seem to miss that a lot of the things were shown specifically to drive home the moral at the end of the episode.
And that the Diamond Dogs were unusually bright dogs (we have yet to see Winona speak, anyway), not aggressive, ugly, kidnapper ponies.
I don't write this as a challenge. More of a question to how many of this demographic are keeping up with the reports to Celestia. But not really a question, either.
The moral included using your wits to overcome a challenge. Not exactly a feat with foes as dumb as these. The dogs were so unbelievably stupid I felt SORRY for them.
I shouldn't feel sorry for them.
It's like Rarity herself said. She never was in any danger; there wasn't a challenge to begin with. It was like watching the Gummi Bears with tiny, weakling ogres and no Duke.
As to the diamond dogs being especially bright dogs... Eh. I'd say they are as much "dog" as an equestrian pegasus is a "horse".
IMO, this episode was one of the weaker ones. The first half was rather slow, and the "villains" were annoying as hell. However, things started to pick up about halfway through, and there were some really enjoyable moments. That said, this episode was mostly fluff and fairly predictable, which is a shame, because Rarity has is already and has the potential to be an even more deeply interesting pony, if only she got more screen time. I wish they'd give the character spotlight episodes a break for a while and do a few more with all the ponies. It seems like they're running out of ideas for the ponies to play off each others's personalities.
I had a dream recently, That magical portal(stargate) is somewhere hidden in Everfree forest, it's connected between Equestria and Earth! So one of human might appear soon!
OK I may not like the human in this mlp show anyways. What's all your opinion?
PUA is actually an acronym for pickup artist. These are men who have perfected the skill of getting to appeal to a lady. Now, it's not just about making the girl become aware of your arms together with muscles in the arms, it is about getting the woman to follow the guy to the bedroom. If well learned, the pickup artist is not going to have to add to himself virtually any some other artificial bling bling to win the girl over, all he needs is some adjustment of the normal things that he presently has. This is exactly what the secret society of pickup artists isn't going let you know about.
So exactly why would it is necessary for a guy to join the secret society of pickup truck artists? It is a 1 million dollar question when answered appropriately by a guy, provides leads to precisely what to focus on to make yourself appealing to females.
The first reality to look at be aware of is the pretty much every guy is wired to conquer chicks. Take the scenario of the Lion and the Lioness in the game park. The natural thing is for the single male Lion is always to handle several Lionesses but not the reverse.
Before the Lion is victorious that right to lead a pack of Lionesses, it needs to prove desirable enough and assure security for the Lionesses. This simply means that the male Lion needs to have a number of characters which render it captivating. Which is why every guy must have to be informed about PUA.
So, the teachings on PUA will make it possible for every single man to be a real guy. One who actually have the opportunity to attract and make each and every lady on his path satisfied! This is the entirely macho man who'll find gratification from getting every lady he wishes. Be a part of the club and fully grasp the concealed secrets.

ReplyDeleteRarity is my least favorite pony, but:
ReplyDeleteSo freakin' psyched for this! It better be as good as I'm expecting.
It´s now 19:40 in europe. To be able to watch it on youtube I have to wait until at least 22:00. I hope Pensive is here or I have to wait until 4:00.
ReplyDeleteIt would be worth it though :D
I think I will just wait for the youtube
ReplyDelete@Sethisto

ReplyDeleteTHIS EPISODE IS CELESTIA TIER
ReplyDeleteBEST EPISODE.
ReplyDeleteNO ARGUMENT.

Now I am bouncing off the walls waiting for the download after hearing the rave reviews above. O_o
ReplyDeleteOh, That was great! God-Tier, as Sonic Rainboom and some others! =D=D=D
ReplyDeleteSo many awesome Spike and dramatic Rarity!
And Spike and Twilight in the end needs to be 20% LESS cooler so we can get used to it without mind blown.
In their tongue he is Spike... DRAGONBORN
ReplyDeletethis episode was unlike any before. stuffed with action, awesome and wtf it completely overloads the audience's intake-abilities and gives you the feeling of getting pummeled by a burning rainbow of glorious win.

ReplyDeleteit was an awesome episode, i now like rarity a hell of a lot morre now :3
ReplyDeleteGreat episode! I love that Rarity saved herself, not needing Spike or the rest. I hope he was able to find that big blue one again, though...
ReplyDeleteMotherfu-
ReplyDeleteI got to miss Sonic Rainboom due to random events, DIDN'T miss Staremaster and Show Stoppers, and now that apparently things got back to awesome the great RNG in the sky struck me again!? HOW IS THAT FAIR, I ASK YOU!
Rarity is vying with Pinkie for first-place position on my list now. She was too cute AND badass at the same time in this episode.
ReplyDeleteAlso, more Spike please. And more Spike/Rarity please. I was really keeping my fingers crossed for a kiss on the cheek by the end of the episode.
...
ReplyDelete11/10.
There's nothing else to say.
This is probably the best episode so far.

When I tried to watch a channel on SopCast, my browser went crazy opening dozens of new tabs. I don't know for sure that SopCast was the cause.
ReplyDeleteThat was...MEH.
ReplyDeleteHow boring. I kind of figured because Rarity is quite boring herself. And her whining, I really hope my ears would have fallen off at that part.
ReplyDeleteAs peter Griffin once said "There's no conflict in this movie!"
ReplyDeleteSeriously, I'm all for Rarity getting herself saved, but there was no danger, no threat, nothing to really make you worry about her.
i think all you Pony-Boner fools are so "turned on" by a "sexy" horse you're forgetting what is good and what is bad.
GOD DAMMIT GET A STREAM UP!
ReplyDeleteStop saying how great it is :'(. You are all just making it so much harder to wait D:
ReplyDeleteIt's not great. it's mildly charming, and that's it.
ReplyDeleteI would have preferred to see Rariy in a little ACTION, being more proactive as a means of escape rather than whining.

> there was no danger, no threat, nothing to really make you worry about her.
ReplyDeleteYeah, it would have been lots better if they'd cut off bits and mailed them back via Spike's magic belches.
Braaap! "Oh no, Rarity's ear!"
Yeah, whatever. Go watch something else if you want deadly peril. I liked that Rarity... well... Raritied her way out of a bad situation.
But Awesome Spike is in it!

ReplyDelete@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteCurrently watching it, seems legit so far although I thought it was malware at first.
SO FREAKIN PUMPED WOOOOT RARITY EPISODE
Actually.
ReplyDeleteAm I the only one that thought Spike was the best part of the episode and not Rarity?
His daydreams and just being all around cute when talking to Rarity really made him stand out.
@Anonymous yep, you're the only one.
ReplyDeleteRarity > all
Wow, this sounds like Spike is finally having a major role for once
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of episodes, the "Staremaster" is showing as the "Stairmaster" in the download and stream list. Fix plz? Or is there a joke that's just going right over my head here?

Shockingly good episode. Rarity is my least favorite pony, but if these good episodes keep up she might inch ahead of Applejack...
ReplyDeleteWhats with all the hyper analytical trolls here today? You guys do realize this isn't The Wire we're watching here right? I mean, am I seriously reading peoples complaints about the lack of subtle character depth and pot conflict in a cartoon where a magic talking pony is kidnaped by dog-moles?
ReplyDeleteThe Mule does not approve small portion of this episode.
ReplyDeleteI'm just glad to take a break from the CMCs.
ReplyDeleteAs for the episode, I liked it alot!
ReplyDeleteSo fuc**** hilarious!!! Awesomness funny!!! Spike's Dream was the best part of all epidosode!!!
ReplyDeleteThe whining part was so f***ing accurate to real life that I cringed. Having 2 little sisters makes you appreciate things like that better.
ReplyDeleteSpike's dream == OMG
ReplyDeleteMy only problem with this episode is I'm an Apple Bloom X Spike shipper.
ReplyDeleteRarity. Must. Die.
So. Love. Lives.
How long till we get 1080 streams?
ReplyDeleteSomeone just have to say this... with her manners, love and desire for gems, abbility to keep business going in any circumstances and battle yell-fu... Yep... Rarity simply MUST be Jewish ^^ (about the last ability - watch Hebrew Hammer for that one). Hope none offence taken ;)

ReplyDeleteLike this thread, evidently. :)
also, am I really the only one who caught the Gollum reference?
ReplyDeleteGood voice acting, but overall, I liked Show Stoppers better.
ReplyDeleteAnd for that alone I'll likely be called a troll.
Really, it wasn't all that interesting. One of the very few episodes I kept fast-forwarding to spare myself the dog's painful stupidity.
@Purple Tinker

ReplyDeleteWiny Rarity was sooooo cute. Dear god I think Human Rarity is now my waifu.

ReplyDelete@Cray0nBecause I'm not into bestiality. But I do suppose that if we were both ponies that would be ok then.

ReplyDeleteThe moral included using your wits to overcome a challenge.
@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteEh, they were planning to keep her as a slave forever and did once threaten to stab her with a spear. Seeing them get outwitted easily was satisfying.
And to all those who wanted real danger, c'mon admit it, you would have just as traumatized as the target audience if Rarity had actually got hurt.
ReplyDeleteI had a dream recently, That magical portal(stargate) is somewhere hidden in Everfree forest, it's connected between Equestria and Earth!
ReplyDeleteSo one of human might appear soon!
OK I may not like the human in this mlp show anyways. What's all your opinion?
Oh and yes Rarity was awesome! :)
ReplyDeletePUA is actually an acronym for pickup artist.
ReplyDeleteSo exactly why would it is necessary for a guy to join the secret society of pickup truck artists?
