• Changing Someone's Life with PONIES!

Ponychan is much more tame than /co/ or FiMchan, so stuff like this is allowed to flourish.  Someone recently created a post over there explaining a difficult life situation, and battling through it with Ponies; Rainbow Dash in Particular!

And out of nowhere, just like Celestia in Pinkie Keen, Lauren Faust raids the thread with congratulations!

An amazing tale to be sure.

    You can find it below.

    1. How the hell did she find ponychan?

      VastaKustuta
    2. @Anonymous She was linked to it by someone on devart I think.

      VastaKustuta
    3. That's incredible and amazing and all sorts of things I don't even have words to describe. Excuse me while I go cry.

      VastaKustuta
    4. And this is why I love Ponychan so freakin much.

      VastaKustuta
    5. The forum-like attitude of Ponychan keeps me well away from the place but it's a touching story.

      VastaKustuta
    6. @Anonymous
I didn't know ponychan was secret or hard to find

      VastaKustuta
    7. I baww'd hard.

The fact that Lauren Faust posted blew my mind.

    8. That is the first post I read on any imagebaord that brought a tear to my eye, and the fact Faust came in to offer moral support like that was pure win.

      VastaKustuta
    9. I...

I don't even know what to say.

I knew there was a reason I loved you guys. All of you guys. And this is it.

      VastaKustuta
    10. Yeah, this whole story was kind of mind-boggling. :) Yay community!

      VastaKustuta
    11. Ponies sure are awesome.

Maybe THAT'S why the show's title is "Friendship is Magic"?

      VastaKustuta
    12. ^ Indeed.

And jolly good show! That tale was truly inspiring

      VastaKustuta
    13. This was just so touching to read (and so heartbreaking as well) that I just HAD to send it over to Sethisto. Kudos for posting this, man.

      VastaKustuta
    14. wow.. couldn't help but cry a little so inspiring and sad.. if only more people accepted ponies.. no one i know irl knows or likes FiM and it's kinda hard to tell them about it, but anyways that guy is my hero

      VastaKustuta
    15. I cried a little.

      VastaKustuta
    16. I've been using this particular story (and my own story of how Twilight helped me through an illness, and a few others I've heard) as my "best possible evidence" for the importance of this show. Really inspiring stuff. When multicolored cartoon horses become so important they can become a catalyst for changing your life around, this is major. This isn't just internet memes or 4chan trolling, this is important, deeply spiritual stuff that's happening to people.

I love this community and I'm proud to be a part of it.

      VastaKustuta
    17. I don't have anything to add beyond what has already been said, but I also teared up reading this. It is a good thing, this show, when it is helping accomplish triumphs like that. Love it, love the tale, love the fanbase. All. Good.

      VastaKustuta
    18. I knew it. I've been in a cheerier mood ever since I started watching this show, and then I start hearing stuff like this. This cartoon is fucking therapeutic, man. I love it.

      VastaKustuta
    19. mfw i was in that thread.
      I really love this this whole fandom, man. If only real people were as nice as loving as my ponyfriends ;_;

      VastaKustuta
    20. Holy ducking cow, Ponychan is awesome and that OP is a motherfucking champ. Screw the future trolls who'll say the story is a lie; this guy deserves like 20 medals or something.

I was very teary-eyed through it all before post no. 19788; the >mfw was just... it was MY face when I reached the ending.

      VastaKustuta
    21. @Anonymous It really is.
      I've noticed my personality changing.
I used to be a grimdark fan, long before Pinkie's fic.
I hardly swear ever, if at all, now. It's replaced with ponetics (flank, cudd, etc).

I've overall been more socially outgoing.

      VastaKustuta
    22. I remember seeing this earlier.
I just can't believe how much this can help people. I just love it. This little fandom is much more then a just any regular old fandom. Its something that helps people drive their lives into much greater.

I love it, and I love you guys too.

      VastaKustuta
    23. >Whatever
      >(BANNED)

what. really, ponychan? i've heard things, but i had no idea it's quite that sort of place

      VastaKustuta
    24. Yeah I was a bit surprised someone was banned for that, too.
      Ah well.

      VastaKustuta
    25. @Anonymous

Yeah, a ban was a bit too far, a probation or even just a warning would have been more suitable, for low quality/quantity posts.

      VastaKustuta
    26. We've a mod who considers one day bans to be warnings. "Think about what you did". And to be fair - monumentally dick move. You want to be super internet hardcore, /b/ is --> that way.
It's also the only ban I've ever seen that wasn't for porn posting.

      VastaKustuta
    27. @Anonymous
It's a community revolving around love, support, and friendship. Then someone went out of their way to express their disdain for an inspirational story. I'd say the ban was justified.

      VastaKustuta
    28. oh celestia! that was heartbreaking, I was reading that listening to the last unicorn ost, I really cried.
I love you guys! BEST FANDOM EVER!

      VastaKustuta
    29. That thread rocks so goddamn hard.

      VastaKustuta
    30. wasn't there that one guy who posted on /co/ about ponies helping him through his alcoholism? he was like 18 and already going to AA meetings or something.

This show is seriously doing great things. It's a little surreal.

      VastaKustuta
    31. Ok, I've composed myself now.

The thing that I love the most about MLP: FiM isn't the dialog or the music or the pretty, pretty ponies... it's the effect it has on the fanbase. As time goes on, you can just watch people get more into the show and embrace the core aspects of it, and bitterness and cynicism melt away. That it can be a source of inspiration to people to take the little steps to improve themselves, or (as shown by this case) something comforting to hold on to in our moments of greatest weakness. To say nothing of the wave of creative energy it has released.

I find myself agreeing with what Lauren Faust had to say - we all could use a little Rainbow Dash in our pockets. There is a smile on my face right now that won't go away for anything. I'm going to be thinking this story and this community a lot over the coming weeks whenever I need a pick-me-up. And, I suspect I will also be turning to ponies in a little under two months when I find myself needing to be strong.

      I love you all.

      VastaKustuta
    32. I was skeptical as I read it, then reread it with a more open mind. Then I was bothered that after such a touching story there were those in the comments that (thankfully were banned because of it) wanted to basically tear down the touching moment.

I think it's an inspirational story. One that shows that even as adults, sometimes it's the small, innocent things in our world that are the strongest building blocks that hold us together.

We're forced to kill the innocent part of us far too young, and in a way, MLP:FIM helps us to connect with a strong part of us far too many of us lost as we grew up.

      VastaKustuta
    33. I love this guy.

I freaking love everypony there, here, everywhere.

      Magic is all around us.

      VastaKustuta
    34. This is one of the best examples of what I love about this community and this fanbase. As you can probably tell by my long-ass reply in the thread itself, I find this kind of thing awesome and a sign of what kind of community this is for someone to even be able to post something like that (let alone the fact almost universally it's been applauded and supported).

I can tell there are still some "chan-minded" individuals that really just think the show's neat and little more, who disagree with the notions of overwhelming friendliness and goody-goodyness that floats around certain areas of the community (ponychan perhaps in particular), but I'd implore you, no matter how heavily ingrained you are in that way of thinking, to at least give the whole "nice" thing a try. Your heart may grow three sizes that day.

I do feel disdain at the fact that the bigger this community gets and the longer it goes on the more and more likely an increasing number of people who "don't quite get it" like that will enter and perhaps slowly decay it into a more "average internet community" state, but I hope that process is put off as long as possible and there are still people who can relish in things like this. At the very least, I've met some people through the whole pony thing that I know won't change in such a way and I intend to advocate the "love and friendship" that I feel goes hand-in-hand with being a pony fan 'till the bitter end.

    35. >20280 shall live in infamy.

      VastaKustuta
    36. I retweeted this when another pony I know found the post, and a friend of mine in the UK picked up my retweet... it spread like the Everfree Forest.

      VastaKustuta
    37. Hehe, I got lauren to read it :) also i didn't the story would blow up as it did. i saw it uncommented so i saw down and read it and fell in love with the story, and spread it as much as i could :3

      VastaKustuta
    38. "Ponychan is much more tame than FiMchan"

Wait, what? FiMchan is completely dead most of the time. Nobody gets into trouble there because nobody POSTS there.

      VastaKustuta
    39. The OP of this the thread would like to say thanks

I tell you man, it's ALL in the name. I mean seriously, pony(chan) vs fim(chan), these odds are rigged from the get-go!

    42. Thanks to My Little Pony, I had the courage to hold my head up high and public, and even skip around campus. I'm very glad to see the success story of this person.

    44. hey guys just wanted to say thanks alot for having my post and thread actually on the front page on equestria daily. never would I have thought that this would happen. Thanks so much!

      VastaKustuta
    45. Nice, keep the upbeat stories coming.

      VastaKustuta
    46. To the OP God bless you sir. What a story,BIG UPS to ya and keep #WINNING.

      VastaKustuta
    47. @Grrxmaster I was doing that the other day after listening to Pinkie for hours.
At first I was like, 'Why am I moving so fast?'
Then I realize, 'Why am I skipping so fast?'

      VastaKustuta
    48. *sniff*
      Okay, that settles it.
      Ponies. Work. Wonders.

      VastaKustuta
    49. Watching this show, and being a part of this community, has had a positive impact on my outlook, mood, and behaviour as well. I've even been swearing less. Magical stuff. :)

      VastaKustuta
    50. Great to hear uplifting stories like this!

      VastaKustuta
    51. I was 50/50 that it was made up until he replied to being told that his mom was a big part of his problems too. That display of blind codependence made me believe that most of it is true - at least to the point where you couldn't blame him for a few small exaggerations to make for a better telling.

Either way, giving anyone on the show personal credit for what he did belittles his personal strength, IMO. It's nice that LF responded, but that's not the most impressive thing about the thread.

      VastaKustuta
    52. Like I said in my comment in the epic thread, the song itself may have been aimed at kids but the message behind it was very real - if you let your fears get to you they can take over your life. You really do have to stand up tall and face your fears, and facing them with laughter has been proven to be one of the most effective. Granny Pie has a head on her shoulders and all four hooves on the ground.

      VastaKustuta
    53. Thank you for this post...It has really Cheered up my day after being depressed yesterday about being unemployed.

      VastaKustuta
    54. Too bad it's a crock of shit.

      VastaKustuta
    55. @Anonymous

Too bad you're just a jaded, frendship-starved man.

But that's okay, we even accept people like you. Ponies are love.

      VastaKustuta
    56. Nearly bursting to tears, facing his fears. How could anyone say that the guy didn't do an honorable thing?
I know this is late, but this mans history? It shows that he was striving for a friend, and it looks like he found many.

All I can really say to him is that he has found many people who will try to honor the aspects that we are finding dear to us all. I hope he does indeed keep up his laughter, in and out. May he find more good friends that will let him see that his integrity is a rare gift, and worth being honest and loyal to.

Live with honor, clasp your brother and enjoy what you have regained. A generous amount of friendship, which I hope he shares with all of his friends.

Honor and kindness to you all.

      VastaKustuta
    57. Gah! It gives me the 404 Not Found error! Is the link broke? I wanna read it! =O

      VastaKustuta
    58. I feel kinda bad for the father. Reading that story is like watching the pilot episodes for FiM except instead of Luna accepting Celestia's friendship, Celestia doesn't give Luna a choice and banishes her to the moon again for an indefinite amount of time.

      VastaKustuta
    59. May be a little late, but I just stumbled upon this story and can say I feel your pain. I have had numerous problems in the last year myself, from my bros heart transplant to fighting in the household, but nothing compared to what you have had. Glad to see someone else bringig their pony along for support and smiling in the end. Continue strong my friend
