I swear we had a brony mod who posted with a Pinkie reaction image once. He better not have gotten fired for something stupid.
Here is a quick summary of what this non-brony mod posted. The actual screencaps will be below the break.
1.) See what spike is doing? That's furry. And bannable now, even if it is pony.
2.) Reaction images are fine, as long as they aren't used to derail something. (This thread is now ponies for example is banned)
3.) Ponies are not Alternative Hentai, and no longer allowed on /d/. (but shitting dicknipples is still all good, and encouraged)
4.) Mods will ban pony on /b/ when they feel like it.
You can find all of the mod's reactions to various questions below the post break

I knew something was wrong with Spike.
ReplyDeleteI smell butthurt
ReplyDeleteWhere's moot in all this?
Saw the thread earlier. Pretty much it can be summed up like this:
ReplyDelete-Don't derail threads with ponies
-No rule 34 on /co/ or /d/
I'm glad that a mod came forward to answer some questions everyone had. Hopefully, the 1-2 general thread at a time pattern can continue as it has been. We just need to make sure pony-flooding doesn't happen again.
The mod was fagging it up and generally full of shit. My impression: this was the samefag that started all the problems. I'm guessing he's on some kind of probation outside of /b/ where he can't blanket ban. He made a point of saying he had to stay within the rules outside of /b/, although I think that was a slip-up. So he'll ban people in /co/ when he can get away with it. But I doubt he often reads /co/. There was a shitload of porn in the thread just prior to him showing up.
ReplyDelete>>no rule 34 on /co/
ReplyDeleteI thought that was a rule before ponies? Rule almost nobody gave a shit about?
I scanned the first few pages of /co/ while he was laying all this down, and saw a fart thread, a vore thread, a diaper thread, and a thread about a guy posting pictures of himself dressed as Velma in lingerie. He's a blatant hypocrite.
ReplyDeleteMeanwhile, /v/ is being spammed with child porn, gay furry pictures and links to hentai on youtube, and /mu/ is still being flooded with gore. But thank God the ponyfans are being kept in line. That's what's really important.
ReplyDeleteSo...still not worth it unless you want to talk about the OMG SUPER-AMAZING POST COUNT IN PONY THREAD.
ReplyDeleteCool.
@Anonymous Working on his new site canv.as or whatever.
ReplyDelete@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteIsn't /co/ for comics & cartoons?
Admittedly, I'm not a huge /co/ lurker but this still made me wat.
I know there's been some bad blood in the past between bronies and the /b/ community. But I think him taking the time to lay out the rules (as he sees them and is willing to enforce them) is a step in the right direction. At least now, if there are any future conflicts, we can just refer back to this thread and legitimately call bullshit if anyone tries to start anything.
Don't spam /b/ or /co/, try not to piss off the locals (remember, Love and Tolerance, needless drama is for parasprites), and rock on you brave and wonderful ponies of 4chan, rock on.
I'm not a 4chan user, but I just hope they don't erase the archives before I get to do an image sweep.
ReplyDeleteWhile reading got to a part where it saw "anybody posting---" and read it as "anypony" ;_; Dammit....
ReplyDeleteThis can only help the fandom NOT descend into creepy furry drama.
ReplyDelete@Fon Shaolin
ReplyDeleteBut dat rarity image...
Vectored equines and friendship: the most dangerous things 4chan has ever seen.
ReplyDelete@Fon Shaolin
ReplyDeleteI think it also helps that the series has the sheer amount of innocence that makes any rule 34 feel extra creepy.
This whole thing pisses me off. I think it's how okay everyone is with it. We get banned for doing not a damn thing wrong and we're supposed to be all smiles that we get rules laid out especially for us a week later while fart and Dairy Dose threads go on at the same time this mod is bullshitting us.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry, but this isn't a good thing.
@Pacce
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't say everyone is "okay" with this, it's more that we can live with it (or at least some of us can). The last time there was intense drama regarding pony threads on /b/, Anon pushed back hard, things got hairy, and it affected other pony communities that had nothing to do with /b/ (derpychat, ponychan 1.0, you will be missed). And I don't think 4chan is really all that crucial to the community, anyway; is anyone really browsing /b/ or /co/ anymore for their pony fix? If the MODS want to feel powerful by knocking us down for being too "uppity", what does it matter? Not saying there shouldn't be a continued...presence to make it known that it's kind of ridiculous to harangue us for no reason, but pick your battles, and all that...
@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteI suppose you're right.
4chan just felt like internet home to me, now I see it for... well, 4chan and I'm not sure how happy I am with it anymore.
@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteI think a big part of it is that almost no one reports those kinds of threads, but someone will report a pony thread just for the heck of it. Since ponies are a huge target right now, nearly every slip-up is caught and used against the community.
@Pacce
ReplyDeleteThis sums up my feelings perfectly
So what now, are pony generals banned again or what?
ReplyDeleteYou know what.
ReplyDeleteBefore MLP, I had the same opinion of 4chan as I do of Horses Apples. Then I heard that this wonderful new show had a genuinely nice fandom, and that fandom was primarily centered on 4chan. I though. "Oh, that's cool, maybe it's not so bad after all."
Then. This.
So you know what?
4chan can Hoof it up their flank for all I care. Let that place Rot like the Bog it is.
@Fon Shaolin
ReplyDeleteExperience shows 4chan always abides by the rules of society and those they laid out for themselves and nobody would never ever dream of going against the laid out rules for any reason whatsoever
@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteWe are all good. It's just because it is the moment's fad. Things will be unfair against us.
Just keep it up the good way, all the attention just makes us stronger.
I really don't see what's the big deal. There were no problems for an entire week, stop dissing and resisting mods and feeding obvious trolls because that just pours gasoline on the fire and generates drama which makes everything worse.
ReplyDeleteYes they treat this show differently because 4chan is full of people with "lol u fags it's fer gurls I haet" mindset, one of them happens to be a mod but this is 4chan for crying out loud, are you honestly surprised?
Here's what I've pieced together, though keep in mind that a lot of it comes from sources of questionable veracity...
ReplyDeleteThere is a mod that goes by the name of 'Invisibro'. He is usually a /b/ mod. Ponies were being enjoyed on /b/. He started banning (why? Damned if I know). /b/ronies rebelled by spamming it. He flipped out and laid out blanket bans on all boards for any mention of ponies and put in wordfilters.
Other mods (possibly moot?) took notice of this apo(ny)calypse. The bans were lifted and Invisibro's powers outside /b/ were severely curtailed and he was put on some sort of probationary notice. Possibly because he blames the ponyfans for this, he lays down new rules of unprecedented level of restrictiveness while still staying within the technical limits of his powers, hoping that the ponyfans will breach them en masse and justify the measures he took.
Thus far, that hasn't happened - props to the 4chan-dwelling bronies. But he's still waiting.
This is why there's pony-related USER WAS BANNED FOR THIS POST sandwiched between untouched fetish threads on /co/. This is why he's holding Q&A sessions to lay down the law while other boards are being flooded with CP and gore. He hates ponies and will ignore threads full of Penny-from-Inspector-Gadget pornography and 'but I've got to fart SUPER bad' threads while banning something as innocuous as what Sethisto posted up the top. Even relatively tame written content with sexual overtones will get you banned.
So, yeah. Until/unless there's some sort of power shift among the upper echelons of 4chan, to be a pony fan there is to have your every post analyzed for the slightest excuse to ban you. Now might be the time to migrate to ponychan or FIMchan, if you've been thinking about it. I've argued in the past that the influx of new blood that 4chan supplies is important, but with these latest developments, I've been forced to rethink that.
I say keep on with the generals, don't give them what they want by leaving.
ReplyDeleteIt was calm for a week, now a mod tried to stir shit up again, get over it continue like it's business as usual.
Hilarious 4chan meltdown over ponies is STILL hilarious.
ReplyDelete@W. Book (Pony Inquisitor)
ReplyDeleteThis. I never cared about 4chan before and they just ensured I never will. This is my pony home.
That said, Sethisto, if at any point you want donations or help...
The thread where the mod replied just made me cringe. Not because of what he was saying, but because of what everyone else was doing. How the mod put up with it all without simply banning everyone again, I don't know. That everyone rails against this mod for denying them their oh so precious reaction images and porn just makes it worse.
ReplyDeleteIf you want to discuss MLP the cartoon on the cartoon board, then that's fine. Nothing against that. But I'm seriously wondering how many actually want to do that, and how many are just using it as a convenient excuse to post shit.
@Windchaser
ReplyDeleteThis.
Same as usual.
4chan is the wasteland of the Internet. I'm not surprised that something that comes along and makes it a better place would get banned.
ReplyDelete>Banned a guy that wrote furry text porn.
ReplyDelete>Deleted a thread that had an antropomorphic pony as the OP image.
>Said that MLP porn in MLP threads is bannable now.
i'mokaywiththis.jpg
This just goes to show that even if you dress it up in flowers and one of Rarity's dresses, a turd is always going to be a turd.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad that this phenomenon started on 4chan. However, after seeing child porn and other things pop up in pony threads, I've not gone back there much. Also, I am a furry, and I really don't want to be somewhere where I'm not welcome.
Ponychan and Equestriadaily are my homes for ponystuffs now. Thank you all for being awesome. *brohoof*
>1.) See what spike is doing? That's furry. And >bannable now, even if it is pony.
ReplyDeleteTypical. Never visited 4chan before, definitely not going to now.
So basically, the new rules are...exactly what they were before all this nonsense began.
ReplyDeleteBronies win.
mods say that /co/ is a safe for work thread...
ReplyDeletelet's ask urban dictionary about 4chan:
4chan: you have just entered the very heart, soul, and life force of the internet. this is a place beyond sanity, wild and untamed. there is nothing new here. "new" content on 4chan is not found; it is created from old material. every interesting, offensive, shocking, or debate inspiring topic youve seen elsewhere has been posted here ad infinitum. we are the reason for "not safe for work". we are the anonymous army.
I must say that mods are newfoals.
WELCOME TO THE INTERNET
Gotta agree with madmax. Besides, they're our generals, we should be able to post whatever we want.
ReplyDelete@madmax
ReplyDeleteThat sounds more like it was written by someone on /b/. And as far as they're concerned, 4chan is /b/. Because they tend to be the most... vocal group, this is also the impression the rest of the internet gets of 4chan.
Whereas in reality 4chan has a wide variety of interest boards. Yeah, the /b/ mentality is why /v/ is such a cesspool, but there are still places like /tg/ where you can have serious discussion. People just don't want /co/ going down the same road thanks to the popularity of ponies on /b/.
I am saddened
ReplyDelete>Implying there weren't furry threads since the dawn of mankind
ReplyDeleteWait got a question.
ReplyDeleteSo, /u/ threads with humanized lesbian ponies are allowed on (duh) /u/?
And no more 34 on /co/...
what about non-sexual shipping?
seems fair.
ReplyDeleteWell given that all I've ever seen posted are humanizations and full ponies, the furry rule is pretty much N/A.
ReplyDeleteoff topic posting has always been against the global rules, despite it happening all the time.
Nobody payed attention to the the porn rule to begin with, so I seriously doubt that's going to change.
And finally, who honestly cares about /d/?
Sounds like these rules are just the global rules that have always been there, and the mods are just trying their hardest to make us feel unwanted despite not actually being able to do anything about it.
Of course, I'll just keep doing whatever I feel like and changing my IP whenever some mod gets huttburt.
I can understand and even agree with the concept of "no porn on blue boards". While I don't mind porn per se I'm from /tg/ originally and I've seen how it can cause problems. It's hard as hell to actually enforce, but it's not a bad ground rule to have. I'd just like it if they at least tried to make it look like they were enforcing it evenly.
ReplyDeleteThe problem is that the system is slanted towards enforcement in favor of the most easily butthurt, since those are the people who will be reporting the most. The pony side of the equation gets moderated more because all the ponies are sitting in the general thread having a good self-contained time and not reporting the vore-diaper-fart threads, because they don't go looking for them. Meanwhile all the manchildren who can't stand ponies are rubbing their report buttons raw.
>don't post ponies on /b/
ReplyDeleteI'm still going to do it. Deal the fuck with it. The board's name is random. And getting a new IP takes like.. 10 seconds?
I love the header image for this one. It's hilarious but I think it's pretty well executed. No idea who drew it.
ReplyDeleteI'd be bothered, but considering last time there was a 4chan blow up I said OH NOES CLEARLY I AM NOT WANTED I WILL SHUT UP NOW and then promptly posted at least 20% more than I did the first week I started following EqD, I don't really care so much about what happens on 4chan as long as it's not uberfragmentation.
Though I did try going to look through a dA FiM club, and now I see why you don't post everything they do over there. There's so much. content being pushed out, and not a whole lot of it is impressive. That's part of why nothing I do of Ponies (except color-jobs) will ever pop up here on EquestriaDaily.
Unless I have a total shift of mind and go full drawfriend for /co/. I've changed my mind on crazier things before.
Intriguing just how out of touch the mods are with actual channers, trying to keep everyone's head down. It's like politics all over again.
ReplyDeleteI got banned in that thread that the mod is talking about, I was just filling someones request.
ReplyDeletefeelsbadbrony
My impression of this was that rules that apply to the boards apply to ponies too. I don't think they were being unreasonable at all.
ReplyDelete@Fire.Esper
ReplyDeleteI think it's more intriguing how out of touch some of the MLP fans are. The mods acted because of the complaints from the rest of 4chan about the constant pony spam across many boards.
If you did the right thing and stuck to the generals in /co/ you probably didn't notice how bad it was getting elsewhere.
@Anonymous
ReplyDelete>Implying being in touch with 4chan is a good thing.
Okay, that's it, I've had it.
ReplyDeleteWhat is everypony's problem with furry? I know a lot of folks migrated from /b/ and /co/, but this is getting stupid.
Newsflash, bronies! They walk, talk, and are sentient ponies! They Meet The Criteria For Being Anthropomorphic, i.e, FURRY!
Now, someone want to give me a rational explanation, or is this just more new 4channers being morons and picking up on old memes?
@siraj
ReplyDeleteI have no idea, maybe the mods are hopefully by having that rule it will keep the content done and more controllable with the "Keep It Simple Stupid" approach.
I see furry on /e/ which is weird and it passes *shrugs*
Honestly 4chan has more rules than the Byzantine Empire and they are even less equally enforced.
besides there is DA and ponibooru and all those other sites that you can fine all sorts of FiM related arts.
Mods are fags, this is nothing new
ReplyDelete@siraj
ReplyDeleteI don't think anyone really "hates" furry, it's just "in meme" to rag on the fandom.
The fact that we see so much furry material on 4chan, and that I know many furries who are also /b-tards, kind of reinforces this theory for me.
My opinion is that MLP:FiM *IS* indeed furry, however a lot of people (including myself) would rather not see Rule 34 of the characters. Yes it is exists, but the FiM characters are sweet and innocent, and we want a break from the constant pornage.
Then again, as a furry I am less into porn than most, so maybe my viewpoint is screwed. I dunno.
@zorinlynxI'm kinky, enjoy a variety of smut, and have stupid fetishes I can't break away from.
ReplyDeleteYet R34 of these ponies does nothing for me. It's kinda like asking me to draw smut for Blues Clues. I could do it, and it might be amusing in a joking sort of way, but I'd probably never be able to call it exciting. (In contrast, a bit of the squeaky clean stuff press my kink buttons, so maybe my viewpoint is screwed.)
The term "furry" gets tossed around and sprinkled on everything to the point where I'm having an easier time showing examples of "furries" (anthro characters) that have no fur on their bodies whatsoever (dragonswhatDUCKSWHAT). Applying the same term to people who like anthro characters or to people who actually like furry things in real life (I'm thinking sweaters, for example) just makes it stupid-confusing and ambiguous. The terminology needs to die and be exchanged for more specific terms.
The thread where the mod replied made me cringe too, but for the exact opposite reason as anonymous above (I don't know how to comment quote, sorry). The blatant obsequious asskissing was just awful. Also what Pacce said up top. I'm fine with porn being bannable on blue boards, but do it universally or don't do it at all. (Especially if it's hidden behind spoilers. I mean really, who cares?)
ReplyDeleteWow, this is what the olden fandom looked like...
ReplyDelete
