Sadly, I'm afraid that the bronies still writing stories like this are leaving gradually. I haven't seen anything from A Man That Shall Keep His Promises after he said he was disturbed by the fandom or something like that. Honestly can't blame them.
Oh, I have something in the works. Probably will be the last thing from me relating to MLP. But it'll be a... Big... Bang... Blitz. A DYNAMIC CONCLUSION! I WILL WRITE A PERFECT FANFIC, AN UNBEATABLE STORY! HELL-BENT ON DESTROYING EVERY EVIL STANDING BETWEEN PONIES AND FRIENDSHIP. WRITTEN FOR ONE PURPOSE: TO DESTROY THE WAVES OF SHIPPING AND GRIMDARK. READY, WILLING, PREPARED TO WRITE. It'll be a little like Justice. But with ponies instead of superheroes. You will not be prepared for this. You're body will not be prepared. This story about ponies will have so much friendship that it'll make you want to go out, take a walk, and meet some people! But I need backing for all this fare, don't I? Heh... True that. So here's a sentence you can expect to be in the story: "The six ponies held on tight to Spike's back as he flew towards the giant flames, giving time for Twilight to explain her plan to her friends."
It's a very sweet possible back-story. That very subtle bit about the sniffle was great foreshadowing, even in retrospect, plus it hinted at the emptiness that Princess Celestia was trying to fill. It's also a great quality of mercy to get the foal who'd been abandoned the longest.
The part about her sire not even saying goodbye got me very sad and angry at the same time. At least he was right about not knowing how to be a good parent. But Fuchsia must have been devastated!
Anyway, as you can see, it's pretty powerful stuff, but also with the sweeter parts. It also leaves open many open questions, but best not to get ahead of ourselves I suppose. :)
Massive amounts of Daaaaaaaawwwwwwwww at the end there, I loved it. Call me an idiot, but throughout the story I had no idea it was supposed to be Twilight. Nice backstory, though it IS mentioned that Twilight has TWO parents, and she chose to live with teh Princess. Perhaps this was written before Cutie Mark Chronicles. I loved it though.

Thanks, SamBoga.
That was, as everyone has already pointed out, really sweet.
VastaKustutaYou know, I've always assumed that Twilight was adopted by Celestia. I'm sure the show will address Twilight's upbringing later.
VastaKustutaA very nice read.
