    I'm surprised earth almost snuck up on unicorn.  I thought Earth would get almost no votes, especially after Dash beat Applejack in a few of the strength competitions... isn't that supposed to be the whole point of earth?

    I guess Pegasus was a given.  Wings are way cooler looking than horns, even if Twilight can summon mustaches and teleport.

      I imagine Pegasus won almost exclusively thanks to Rainbow, lol. After all, apparently men want her and women want to *be* her, lol... or hell, it could work the other way around too, amirite?

      If I were a Pony in Ponyville, I wouldn't want to be Dash... mostly 'cuz then there'd be no Dash to ask out, lmao.

      Dash used her wings to win that tug-of-war, so I don't think that counts. On the other hand, Applejack DESTROYED Dash in the ring-the-bell competition.

      Applejack also won the hay bale tossing, though. While it seems to be the case that both Earth and Pegasus ponies are about equally suited to physical tasks, I think they'd usually tend to excel in different aspects of athleticism, though. Pegasi may tend towards a better stamina while Earth have more brute strength, etc.

      She won because she was more athletic and well trained.
      Most of Applejack's job is to kick and pull things, thus she excell at it, but she probably doesn't train the rest of her body like Rainbow Dash.
      If she did, being an earth pony, she'd probably have beaten her.

      Yeah, Rainbow Dash is a dedicated flyer/athlete, whereas Applejack is a dedicated farmer/rodeo pony. Even with the double handicaps of dead-weight-wings AND a competition with a lot of 'farmer/rodeo' events, Rainbow Dash was going even with Applejack.

      I think it's unkind of Applejack to insist on the title of Ponyville's top athlete when she doesn't put it anything resembling Dash's training time.

      Silly silly ponies.... You go about this all wrong.
      You assume the point of earth ponies is strength and athleticism.
      I for one think it is...

      Food. AJ and PP are great cooks and, and now one can harvest like the Apple family. AppleBloom is different, but so are others. None of the othe ponies can cook, as far as we know. Mr and Mrs cook are as their name implies.

      Earth ponies are good at dealing with things of the earth, such as farming and cooking. This is just a trend I noticed, and is not a strict rule.

      Or perhaps I am just rambling insanely! I do that some times.

      Have to say that if I were a pony, I'd wanna be a Pegasus. If given a choice. Naturally, I'd be thrilled to be A pony, any at all. I love all 3 types for what they are and can do and have to offer...^^

      Earth ponies are shown to have almost limitless endurance in the show. Applejack was able to harvest thousands of apples over the course of a few days without sleep. Big Mac is able to pull a rusted, old plow over many acres of farmland and did this since he was a child/colt!
      Pinkie Pie is able to remain on a constant sugar rush. She is able to easily shatter the fourth wall, sneak up on Rainbow Dash, and break all the laws of physics without breaking a sweat!
